Parking is free - enter through the gate on Wilshire. Host: Nessa Weinman About Host: Nessa is an experienced care-partner to her husband Mike, who was diagnosed at age 36 in the year 2000. Together, Mike & Nessa raised 3 sons who were all under 10 years old when Mike’s Parkinson’s was diagnosed. Nessa has also been an Executive Director for 2 different Parkinson’s non-profits raising money and awareness. She has been running this support group for 10 years.

Register to receive a link to the recording.** An overwhelming majority of people with Parkinson’s disease and Lewy Body Dementia rely on unpaid caregiving from family members, with limited research on the impact on the caretaker’s well-being. Join us for an exploration of the challenges faced by caretakers of those living with PD and LBD and a discussion on how to best support these individuals. About our speaker: Jori Fleisher, MD, MSCE, is a fellowship-trained, movement disorders neurologist with a special interest in understanding the needs of individuals and families who are living with advanced Parkinson’s disease and related disorders. She also has a special interest in designing new models of care to better serve this population. After three years on the faculty at New York University, she joined the Rush University Medical Center Parkinson’s disease and Movement Disorders Program in 2017, where she sees patients and conducts research. Fleisher is supported by the National Institutes of Health and various non-profit foundations, and has several research studies underway that are focused on interdisciplinary home visits and caregiver peer mentoring to improve the lives of patients and families who are living with these conditions. The LA 5K is a family-friendly race happening on Saturday, March 15, 2025. It is open to participants of all ages and abilities, including runners, walkers, and strollers. Experience an iconic run/walk through Los Angeles as you run, walk, or stroll through beautiful Elysian Park before a rewarding finish set against the backdrop of world-famous Dodger Stadium. All participants will receive a race shirt, a finisher medal, post-race refreshments, and a truly unforgettable race experience. Here are three ways you can participate: 1. Fundraise and Walk with Friends! Create your own LA 5K Fundraising Page. Create an account with the McCourt Foundation (organizers) so you can participate in the race and fundraise on behalf of PCLA. 2. Can’t Make the Live Event? Fundraise from Home! Create a virtual fundraiser. Go to the PCLA Fundraising page and click “Participate with this charity” on the left-hand side.
